ALAS is a terrific organization that helps farmworkers in many ways. I donate regularly to that organization and I invite others to do the same.

I am angered and disheartened to learn that these hard-working farmworkers are only making about $9.00 per hour (not minimum wage) and that their living arrangements are so horrible. Who is going to be held accountable for permitting this?

The field workers are vastly underpaid but wholesale market prices dictate both the price per pound & pay per hour.
