Monday: Mountain View's holiday tree-lighting celebration

Ringing in the holiday season with Mountain View style is the annual Community Tree Lighting Celebration on Monday evening at the Civic Center Plaza.

The holiday extravaganza features holiday music, refreshments and an appearance by Santa Claus himself. The event will include food trucks, a "snow zone" play area and crafts for children.

The Tree Lighting Celebration is scheduled from 5:30 p.m to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, at the Civic Center Plaza at 500 Castro St. Santa Claus is expected to arrive at 5:45 p.m., and parents are urged to bring their own cameras to take pictures.

In the spirit of the season, those who attend are asked to bring a can of food to benefit the Community Services Agency of Mountain View.
