It's a real kick

Mountain View's Black Rebels scored a 2-1 win over the Outlaws in the AYSO area 2A end-of-season tournament on Dec. 6. Pictured, from left, are Mason Woods, Nolan Rowsey, Stephan Bannikov, Jonathan Alor, John Blockhus.

Mountain View teams took home all four gold medals-- for 12-and-under girls and boys and 14-and-under girls and boys -- as well as three of the silvers, according to AYSO parent Kristina Pereya. The tournament determines which teams move on to represent the area in the Northern California section tournament.

AYSO Region 45 is one of 76 regions that comprise Section 2 which has approximately 40,000 youth players (nearly 2,000 from our region). 48 teams in Under 10 through Under 14 boys and girls reached the Section 2 Tournament this past weekend, six from our region. That was twice as many as any other region in the tournament. Five of those six teams earned medals finishing between first and fourth in the Section. The U14 Boy Black Rebels from this article was one of those medalists finishing 3rd, a strong end to a great season! U10 Boy Purple Destroyers won finishing first. The U14 Girl Toxic medaled finished 3rd and U14 Girl Midnight also medaled finishing 4th. U12 Girl Net Breakers were our fifth medalist finishing 4th as well. Well played!
