This week, Santa Clara County Poet Laureate Yosimar Reyes shares from his life and work in Los Altos, singer-songwriter Angie Maserati kicks off a season of free live music at Mountain View’s Village at San Antonio Center, and at The Guild, Sam Grisman Project highlights the music of Jerry Garcia and mandolinist David “Dawg” Grisman.

‘We Came To Be Triumphant/Venimos A Triunfar: Poetry with Yosimar Reyes’
Santa Clara County Poet Laureate Yosimar Reyes comes to the Los Altos Library to share about his life and work. His presentation “dives deep into the cultural wealth of queer and immigrant communities,” according to the event website. Reyes, born in Mexico and raised in East San Jose, is the first undocumented person to become the county’s poet laureate and is a 2024 Creative Ambassador for the City of San Jose, among other honors. The event is free and reservations are encouraged but not required.

Angie Maserati
Concerts in the park return to the Village at San Antonio Center this Thursday. The center’s event series, which includes free live music on the first Thursday of the month, kicks off the season with Angie Maserati. The Bay Area singer and songwriter performs pop, rock, Latin and R&B favorites and classics from the 1970s to today, plus a few originals, which she describes as “heartfelt and energetic.”

Sam Grisman Project
The Guild hosts an evening with Sam Grisman Project, a collective built around celebrating and sharing the legacy of the music made by The Grateful Dead’s Jerry Garcia and renowned mandolinist David “Dawg” Grisman. The project is led by David Grisman’s son Sam, who grew up immersed in the music of his father and his collaborators, and plays originals as well as highlights from Garcia and David Grisman’s deep repertoire. Sam Grisman is joined in the band by Ric Robertson, Chris J. English, and Aaron Lipp.
