Three challengers -- Dennis Chiu, Bill James and Julia Miller -- are competing with incumbent El Camino Hospital District board members Wes Alles and John Zoglin in the first contested election in the special district since 2002.

"the hospital did not use taxpayer money to purchase the Los Gatos Community Hospital."

Reminds me of a joke: A beggar asks a man for money for food. The man says "How do I know you won't spend it on booze?" The beggar says "I already have money for booze. I just need money for food."

If they didn't buy Los Gatos then would they have needed less taxpayer money to fund operations of the MV hospital?
