The high school's Associated Student Body will be collecting electronic waste from all around the Peninsula. All are encouraged to dump their old electronics at the Los Altos High School campus, at 201 Almond Ave. in Los Altos, on March 5, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The used electronics will be taken away by Green Mouse Recycling, a state-approved e-waste recycling service.
Electronics, like TVs, computer monitors and cell phones are made with heavy metals and other chemicals, like fire retardant, that can harm the environment, wildlife and humans if improperly disposed.
To find out how to have larger items -- like refrigerators and other household appliances -- collected by the school, contact Evelyn O'Donnell at email@example.com, Mention Los Altos High School and pick up at your home will be arranged.
