"How long will it take for Silicon Valley to save us all from the Great Recession?"

That's the question I put to Ken Layne in his new sort-of advice column, "Ask Ken Layne" (scroll down to the bottom).

His response:

"Oh they just need to come up with another couple dozen Social Networks and interactive tablet experiences and everybody's rich. Probably about 27 days from now. Be ready!"

I don't know -- how can we possibly be expected to come up with another social network thing when we've already got Twitter, the be-all end-all?

These advice guys, I tell you. Sometimes I think they're just making it up.
