Train strikes man in Palo Alto
Monday night incident occurred near Churchill Avenue crossing
|
A 22-year-old Palo Alto man was struck and killed by a Union Pacific Railroad Co. freight train Monday night north of Churchill Avenue, a Caltrain spokeswoman has said.
According to Caltrain, he was hit at about 9:30 p.m. on the Caltrain track by Homer Avenue, north of Churchill.
The southbound train remained stopped at about 10:20 p.m. while the coroner was en route, Caltrain spokeswoman Jayme Ackemann said.
Caltrain was operating on a holiday schedule Monday due to Presidents Day, with fewer trains running.

The man was not struck by a train. The man committed suicide by stepping in front of a train.
Let's get it right someday.
Trains do not jump off the tracks and pursue people with the intent to kill them. People step in front of trains to commit suicide....
