Purse-snatcher pushes woman

$150 taken in attack by man in red hooded sweatshirt

A woman told police she was pushed from behind and robbed of her purse at about 7 a.m. on April 27 as she walked in the 500 block of Escuela Avenue.

The robber, who was described as a Hispanic man, between the ages of 20 to 30, was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, according to Liz Wylie, spokeswoman for the Mountain View Police Department.

The victim, a 45-year-old Mountain View woman, struggled to keep her purse. But the man, who was also described as being of heavy build and medium height, ultimately wrestled the purse away from her and fled, Wylie said. He was last seen running west on Gamel Way.

Police searched the area for the suspect or evidence, but came up with nothing, Wylie said. The victim lost $150 in the robbery.

Unfortunately that description in this area isn't going to help.
Sad that we're not even safe at 7AM anymore.

Guard your belongings, Mountain View, for the highwayman known as the dreaded "Red Hood" hath struck! But seriously, folks, I'll bet he'll not be wearing that red hoody again, for pulling his next job.

I would suggest that area should have a Neighborhood Watch group, but I think that the fear of gang or otherwise criminal element reprisal, and the attendant fear of same, is much too high in that area, which is too bad, really.

USA is a registered user.

It's even closer to the Senior Center and the Bumble Bee Health Food store. Did the red hoodie have "I (heart) Tofu"? Was he using a walker?

By the looks of that map, Gamel Way is a cul-de-sac.
