Stasek travels to Afghanistan again

Mountain View City Council member Rosemary Stasek is visiting Afghanistan for the third year in a row, on a personal trip to continue her work with Afghani women. Stasek announced her trip at the June 8 city council meeting and left three days later. She said she will miss the next council meeting but will return in time for the July 6 meeting before the council goes on recess.

Camino Medical has design for Emporium site

Mountain View City Council members got a look at a model of Camino Medical Group's proposed project for the Emporium site at its Tuesday night study session. The updated proposal includes more requests for variances to the zoning bylaws in that area.

The project's architects say they want to move the building closer to El Camino Real to preserve a grove of trees and make it a visually appealing and pedestrian-friendly landmark. A draft Environmental Impact Report will be available for public comment beginning June 25.
